# Listing terms for AI startups

## AI directory

A website that lists AI tools by category, usually with a search, a page per tool and a submit form.

The first places to apply to: most take a free submission, and the big ones send steady visitors for years.

## SaaS directory (software review site)

A catalogue of software with a profile per product, often with user reviews, comparisons and lists of alternatives.

Buyers compare tools here before they pay; a complete profile and a few real reviews do more than a paid spot.

## Launch platform

A site where new products are announced for a day or a week of attention, such as Product Hunt.

Some launches are events you run yourself; get listed on the directories first so the launch traffic finds pages about you.

## Startup database

A database of companies with profiles of founders, funding, team and links, used by investors, journalists and recruiters.

Free to create or claim on most; give the same facts everywhere and update them after every round.

## Marketplace (app store)

A platform that distributes the product itself: a GPT store, a model hub, a browser extension store, an integration directory, a deal site.

Getting in means passing the platform's review, not filling a form; read its policies before you build.

## Verdict

This site's reading of a place's rules: it accepts AI tools, takes only the products its own rule allows, or says no.

A verdict comes from the place's own submit page, rules or listings, and the page shows the day it was read.

## Conditions (a place's rule)

A limit a place puts on what it takes, such as open-source projects only, launched products only or one category only.

Shown as the place's stamp; read the rule before you submit, because a product that does not fit is turned away.

## Dofollow link

A normal link with no rel=nofollow or rel=sponsored attribute, which search engines may count as a vote for the linked site.

Worth more for search; on this site the link type is read from a live listing, not from the sales page.

## Nofollow link

A link marked rel=nofollow, which tells search engines not to pass authority through it.

Still sends visitors; do not pay a search-engine premium for it.

## Sponsored link

A link marked rel=sponsored because it was paid for; search engines treat it like nofollow.

Normal for paid placements; the value is the traffic and the visibility on the page.

## Reciprocal link

A free listing given on condition that your site links back to the directory.

Common among smaller directories; put the link somewhere honest, such as a press or partners page.

## Featured spot (paid placement)

A paid position at the top of a category or the home page, usually for a week or a month at a time.

Prices on this site are the cheapest stated paid spot; the listing itself is often free.

## Submit page

The form or email address a place uses to take new listings.

Every place page here links to it for signed-in visitors; a missing form means you write to them.

## Review time

How long a place says it takes between a submission and a decision.

Stated by fewer than half the places; give the silent ones two weeks before following up.

## Launch day

The day a product is shown on a launch platform's front page, when votes and comments decide where it ranks.

Prepare the page and the first hours in advance, and answer every comment on the day.

## Self-promotion rules

A community's rules on when and how members may post about their own products.

Read them first: most communities allow it only in a set thread or as part of real participation.

## Newsletter sponsorship

A paid, labelled spot in a newsletter issue, priced per issue or by the size of the list.

An advertisement, not coverage; a free submission form, where a newsletter has one, is the other way in.

## Listing kit

The set of texts and images every form asks for: a one-line pitch, descriptions in several lengths, a square logo, a cover, screenshots, categories and links.

Prepare it once and reuse it; the tracker's Pro plan builds one from your website.

## Checked date

The day this site last read a place's terms on the place's own pages.

Terms change; a fact older than a few months deserves a look at the source before you pay.
